Construction of New Irvington Bus Terminal:
Phase II Work Begins on or About March
Beginning on or about Wednesday, March 10, 2004, and continuing until the end of December 2004, NJ TRANSIT will construct a new terminal facility at the Irvington Bus Terminal. When this overall project has been completed, the new Irvington Bus Terminal will include a larger terminal building and additional bus lanes. This project will take place in the following four phases:
PHASE I (Underway - on or about March 10): The Nye Avenue Parking Garage will be renovated with lighting and signage improvements.
PHASE II (On or about March 10 - April 18): The parking lot adjacent to Washington Avenue will be closed and a temporary terminal will be constructed on the parking lot grounds. Customers will be able to park in the parking garage located off of Nye Avenue.
PHASE III (On or about April 19 - October 12): The existing terminal will be closed and customers will use the temporary terminal. All buses will operate via the temporary terminal and customers will be provided with signage and notification which will outline bus boarding and de-boarding locations at the temporary terminal. The new bus terminal facility will be constructed during this time.
PHASE IV (On or about October 13 - December 31): The new bus terminal facility will open for customer use. The temporary terminal will be closed. The parking lot adjacent to Washington Avenue will reopen.
Customer Impacts for Phase II (On or about March 10 - April 18):
The parking lot adjacent to Washington Avenue will be closed while a temporary terminal is constructed. Customers may park in the parking garage located off of Nye Avenue, which has been renovated with lighting and signage improvements. Customers may walk from the parking garage to the existing terminal via the existing walkway.
